Desenzano del Garda
Overlooking the southern shore of Lake Garda, Desenzano boasts very ancient origins, as evidenced by the remains of a large Roman villa built between the 1st century BC and the 4th century AD. Thanks to its strategic location, the town became an important commercial and port centre over the centuries, a role it still holds today. The Castle, probably built in the Early Middle Ages, overlooks the historic centre from above, whilst the Old Harbour, with its characteristic Venetian bridge, is one of the town’s most recognisable sights.
